Privacy policy
How sportmate GmbH processes personal data in connection with this website and the waitlist. Under the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).

2. Which data we process
a) When visiting the website
When you access sportmate.ch, our hosting provider automatically creates server log files containing:
- a truncated or full IP address
- date and time of access
- page / file accessed, amount of data transferred, HTTP status code
- browser type and operating system (user agent), referrer
This data is technically necessary to deliver the website, ensure its security and prevent abuse.
b) Signing up for the waitlist / early access
When you register for early access, we process:
- your email address and the chosen language
- the time of sign-up and confirmation, and the page it originated from
- technical details for abuse prevention (IP address, user agent)
Double opt-in: After signing up, we send you an email with a confirmation link. Only when you click it is your address considered confirmed and added to the waitlist; unconfirmed entries are deleted after 30 days. We use this data solely to inform you about the launch and to manage the waitlist. You can unsubscribe at any time – via the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to [email protected].
To prevent abuse, we limit the number of sign-up attempts per IP address; the IP addresses needed for this are kept for 10 minutes only.
c) Contacting us
If you write to us, we process your details (name, email address, content of the message) to answer your enquiry.

4. Cookies and audience measurement
This website sets no cookies and uses no external tracking or web analytics services (e.g. no Google Analytics).
To know how many people visit the website, we count page views ourselves and without cookies: we store the date, hour, page viewed, the domain of the referring website and a truncated hash formed from a daily rotating random key, the IP address and the browser type. The random key is destroyed every day – afterwards the hash can no longer be attributed to any person or IP address. The IP address itself is not stored. If your browser sends the "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal, nothing is counted.
5. Processors and third parties
We do not disclose personal data without a legal basis. To provide our services, we use the following processors, which are contractually bound to process data in compliance with data protection law:

With the app launch, further processors will be added (including a payment provider as well as Apple and Google for in-app purchases). This policy will be updated accordingly. We disclose data to authorities only where legally obliged to do so.
6. Disclosure abroad
Processing in connection with the website and the waitlist takes place in Switzerland. Should data be transferred to countries outside Switzerland and the EEA in future, we will ensure adequate protection – for instance through standard contractual clauses, recognised adequacy decisions or your explicit consent.
7. Retention period
- Server log files: deleted or anonymised by the hosting provider after a short time (usually a few weeks).
- Waitlist: until the end of the early-access phase or until you unsubscribe. Your email address is then deleted. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 30 days.
- Audience measurement: the anonymous count data (without IP address) is kept for a maximum of 12 months.
- Contact enquiries: until fully handled, then within the scope of any statutory retention obligations.
8. Data security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data. This website is transmitted encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
9. Your rights
Under applicable data protection law, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection, to receive or transfer your data, and to withdraw any consent given with effect for the future. An email to [email protected] is sufficient. You may also lodge a complaint with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, www.edoeb.admin.ch).
10. Data processing in the app (from launch)
At launch, this policy will be extended to cover app processing. We plan to process profile data (display name, photo, sports, level, availability, language), approximate location data for distance calculation (only with your permission), chat messages, mutual ratings, verification data and payment data for Premium subscriptions. Payment data is processed by the respective payment provider or Apple/Google; we do not store full card details ourselves.

We may amend this privacy policy at any time. The version published on this page applies.
